Our Art Box are thoughtfully ideated by Vancouver-based artist Maggie Chow. Her creative space breaks the conventional art-studio mold; Maggie believes that artists of all ages should never stop learning, and she spearheads the creation of playful opportunities for people to expand their thinking from fresh new perspectives. Maggie has been serving the community with inspired art programs and events for 30 years. Her practice is most significantly influenced by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, and she is a certified artist educator with GOLDEN Artist Paints. She also co-authored Davis Art’s book, Beautiful Stuff from Nature. Maggie joined the Robert Bateman Foundation’s Nature Sketch program to promote eco-literacy and inspire appreciation of the natural world. In addition to her life as a professional artist, Maggie operates a small-scale art organization called Arts and Play Society, through which she shares her practices and passion for Early Years Learning in Art and Art Education in different social contexts. More information is available at www.artsandplaysociety.ca. She greatly enjoys kayaking, seaweed pressing, and upcycling salvaged items, ink making in her spare time.
